From My Heart
We are going to have a pie fellowship this evening after the service. I want to say a special thank you to the King’s Messenger/College and Career Classes for hosting this event. Everyone is invited and welcome to attend, and I sure hope you will stick around to enjoy your favorite type of pie. There is always a great variety, and you can eat as many pieces as you like. If you are a master pie maker, please make your specialty and bring it with you tonight.
According to the calendar, we have officially left summer behind and are now in autumn. It has been said, “Time stands still for no one!” And while I am not in a hurry to see winter, which is just around the corner, I am ready for the fall colors and a little crispness to the air.
Next Sunday (October 4th) is Sunday Fun Day with our big Fall bus promotion. Pray we have some nice weather and a great turnout on the buses. If you would like to help in some form or fashion, please see Pastor Jonathan Oberbeck, and he will help you find a place. This is always a wonderful day for our bus ministry, so please pray for God’s richest blessing.
Back in Genesis 1, we read God’s explanation of creation. In Gen. 1:1, we read, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” If you turn back to Gen. 1, you will see that there is a total of 31 verses. The chapter begins with a stated fact: that God created the heaven and the earth. Also notice that with the 30 verses that follow verse 1, each of them begins with the little word: “AND.” The reason is that each verse is the subsequent succession of events. It begins with the fact that God created everything that is and then set all He created in order.
If you look at v. 31, once God created everything and put things in motion, He “saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good.” In v. 14, after God created the Sun, the moon, and the stars, He said these things were created and put in motion to “divide the day from the night” and “to let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years.” Here is our little part of the world; we have four very distinct seasons, and the reason we do is that God created this change for us! So, let’s enjoy this change that is about to come our way and marvel at God’s wonderful creation! Don’t forget, once He created it and set everything in motion, He said, “This is very good.”
Have a great day!
Pastor Norris
