From My Heart
It is a joy to have Pastor Craig and Nina Ledbetter with us today! Pastor Ledbetter and his family are missionaries in Ireland. They have been with us before, and it is an honor for us to have them back again today. We have supported their work in Ireland for many years, as they have been faithfully planting churches and winning folks to Christ. Pastor Josh took the youth group over to their church back in 2003 to do a Vacation Bible School and to help and encourage the church folks. But their church family ended up being the ones who encouraged us. I know you will enjoy his preaching, and I trust you will make them feel welcome and right at home in our church.
It is also good to have several of our college students back for the summer. This school year certainly seemed to fly by, but we are glad you knocked out another year and you are home. Let me challenge you to get involved in some area of serving the Lord this summer. You can sing in the choir, play in the orchestra, work on one of the bus routes, help out in soul-winning visitation, help with a Sunday School class, or any other area you might see that could use your help! It is sure good to have you back!
Carroll Christian Schools is having graduation exercises next Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. This graduating class would love to see you at graduation to send them off into the next phase of their lives. Please realize you are welcome to attend, and if you can’t make it, please pray for the graduates to get in the will of God and serve the Lord with their lives.
In Joshua 3:1-6, the Children of Israel came upon the Jordan River with the intent of crossing over into the land which God had promised them. The Ark of the Covenant was set to cross the swollen Jordan first, and then the 12 Tribes were to follow. Joshua told them they had not passed this way before (v. 4), so he challenged them to “sanctify themselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.” Notice, Joshua did not say, “Canaanize yourselves,” no, he told them to sanctify themselves. I want to challenge our graduates in this same area. You are now stepping into territory where you have never been before, but sanctify yourself (get close to God) and the Lord will guide you and show you wonders you have never seen before.
Before the service begins this morning, would you take a minute and pray to the Lord and ask Him to speak to your heart and draw you close to Him? Also, pray for Pastor Ledbetter and ask the Lord to empower him as he preaches! This is the day of opportunity for us to surrender to the Lord and allow the Holy Spirit to guide us in our service for Him.
Have a great day!
Pastor Norris
