Announcements
CHRISTMAS POINSETTIAS: There are only 4 days left to place your orders! Visit the Welcome Desk before it's too late to purchase a poinsettia in memory of or in honor of your loved ones. You can also place orders online through the church website. All orders must be received by Wednesday, November 20.
GOOD SHEPHERD CLASS: will be having their annual Christmas dinner on Sunday, December 15. They are in need of 3 cooked, sliced, and deboned turkeys for the occasion. They should be delivered to the Great Room Kitchen by 9:30 a.m. that morning in a disposable pan and the broth in a separate disposable container. If you can help, please sign up at the Welcome Desk.
CHRISTMAS OUTREACH: Next Sunday morning the Christmas Outreach Tree will be up in the foyer with tags available to take for a child whose parent is at the Carroll County Detention Center. You can also help by donating money toward the cost of Bibles or turkeys that will accompany the gifts.
LIVE NATIVITY MEETING: If you signed up to help with the Live Nativity or are interested in helping, there will be a meeting tonight after the service with Pastor Shutt, on the organ side of the auditorium.
From My Heart
We welcome Dr. John Hamblin to our church for our Fall Revival Meeting. Dr. Hamblin has been in full-time evangelism for many years and the Lord has used him across the country. He is a regular speaker at the National Sword of the Lord Conference and a member of the Sword of the Lord Board of Directors. He will be preaching all day today, and then Monday - Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. I sure hope we will see you for each service, and let’s allow the Lord to stir the fires of revival in our hearts.
We also have Pastor Lewis Howell with us for a couple of
Sundays. He is hoping to be here as the Port of Baltimore delivers the container with all their belongings! He also wants to go visiting on the two Mondays with the Super 60’s folks and maybe have a little fellowship time. He will teach their Sunday School class “in person.” For the past few months, he has been staying awake on what is
Monday morning for him - until 2:45 a.m. so he can teach the class through one of the live media platforms! That exhausts me just thinking about it! But it was his idea to set up the equipment so he could teach the class live, where the class could see him on the
television monitor. I know everyone will love on him and make him feel at home while he is here. Pray for his wife, Kim, as she has stayed behind hoping to be able to sell their house!
It is hard to imagine we are almost into December! As you know, December brings with it a busy schedule for the Church of the Open Door. All the Sunday School classes have their Christmas parties, and there are school programs and Church activities - but it all works together to make the Christmas season a very special time. I trust you will keep a close check on the bulletin each week, so you don’t miss anything!
Let me encourage you to invite some folks to church with you this week. This will be an ideal opportunity for your friends or family to hear the message of the Gospel. You can simply say to those you invite that your church is having a guest preacher for a revival
meeting, and then invite them to come. You could tell them you will swing by their house and pick them up. They might surprise you and accept your offer! Folks everywhere are looking for something, and we know what that something is: It is the Lord Jesus. So, let’s invite some folks, and we will certainly pray they will come and be saved.
Have a wonderful day! Take a quick moment and ask the Lord to bless and speak to your heart today. “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24)
