From My Heart

Have you ever just stopped to consider how the Lord has blessed you? The old hymn says, “Count your blessings, name them one by one. Count your blessings see what God hath done!” I think most people get so busy with every curveball this life hurls at us that we don’t take the time to pause a minute and count our blessings!

One of our greatest blessings is the fact that we live in the United States of America! With all her flaws and miscues lately, America is still the greatest nation this earth has ever known. Even though our freedoms are being placed in great jeopardy every single day, we still have more freedoms than any other nation on planet Earth today!

Our wonderful church has given me the opportunity to travel around the globe to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have been to every continent except Antarctica (and I have no desire to go there). However, having been all over, I have always found myself so grateful whenever I have landed safely back in America. I remember the first time I left the country, I went to Guyana, South America. After two weeks when our plane landed back in Miami, I wanted to kiss the tarmac as we exited the plane to enter the terminal. We have so much to be thankful for simply because we live in the United States!

Another blessing we should count is our wonderful salvation! It is so wonderful because it is FREE for us. The Lord Jesus has already paid the price through His death on the Cross of Calvary. It is so wonderful because it guarantees us a home in Heaven for all eternity. It is wonderful because the moment I receive the Lord Jesus as my personal Savior, the Holy Spirit of God takes up permanent residence in my life, and I become a child of the Living God. I am His and He is mine, and there is nothing the Devil, or any of his demons, or any man, or any other creature can ever do to change the relationship God and I enjoy together.

Another blessing I think we overlook is our Bible! We have the Word of the Lord God of Heaven. Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (Matt. 4:4). The Bible is God’s final authority for faith and practice in the Christian life. It is the only Book that tells us where we came from, how to live, and how to be sure we are going to Heaven when we die! The Psalmist said, “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psm. 119:105) There is no Book like the Bible!

We also need to count the blessings of having our wonderful church family. Oh, how the Lord has blessed our church in so many unbelievable ways. The multitude of folks who have been saved through the ministries of this church is an incalculable number! We will not know until we get to Heaven just how many people have been born again through the outreach of this church! Count your many blessings!
