From My Heart
We welcome Evangelist John Hamblin and his wife, Cari, to our church for our Spring Revival Meeting. Dr. Hamblin will be with us all day today and Monday through Wednesday. Our services today start at their normal times, and we will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday through Wednesday. I know you folks will welcome the Hamblins and make them feel at home this week.
Don’t forget about Tuesday evening being CCS night. We will have the high school choir sing for us, and we are hoping this will bring many parents out to hear the Word of God. Please plan to be here and let’s trust the Lord for a great evening. As we normally do, we will receive an offering on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings as a love offering for our Evangelist. I want to ask you to give generously and let’s do our best to be a blessing to the Hamblins.
I was thinking last week, it is rather strange how before you got saved, you knew how a Christian is supposed to behave! Before I was saved, I would watch those folks I knew were Christians and if I saw them do something or say something that was not acceptable, I could (and would) call it out every time. I remember saying one time when the Christian family a few doors down from where we lived didn’t go to church one Sunday night, “I thought Christians had church on Sunday evening?” But instead, they were out playing softball with the rest of us in the community! Even as a young teenager, and even before I became a Christian myself, I knew how Christians were supposed to behave!
I always knew that a Christian was supposed to be in church! I was always amazed when the folks in our subdivision, whom I knew were professing Christians did not go to church! Even before I became a born-again believer in the Lord Jesus, I believed if you were going to call yourself a Christian, you should be in church.
I heard Bro. Lester Roloff say once, and I wrote it down so I would remember it, “Don’t just go to church, instead get INTO church.” The context of that message was to challenge folks to get busy in some area of service for the Lord. I think if we are going to get anything out of church - we must bring something to put into it. There are many folks who need to give more of themselves to the work of their church.
Can I challenge you to give the Lord the next four days? I think if we give the Lord the opportunity to work in our lives, we would be amazed at what He would do! Dr. Hamblin is one of America’s finest preachers and is being greatly used of the Lord, and it is our privilege to have him for the next four days in our church. But, if you are not here, the Holy Spirit cannot use the preaching of God’s Word to draw you closer to Him. Let’s have a wonderful day!
