Announcements

THANK YOU: All the repairs to our home have been completed from the tornado damage. We want to thank everyone for their support, prayers, and kind words. Praise God for His mercy and love. What a wonderful church family. Don & Nancy Bittman

THANK YOU: The Good Shepherd class had a wonderful Christmas Dinner, an event we haven't been able to hold for three years. The support and love shown from our church family for this ministry helped to make this a very special day. Our thanks especially go out to those who donated turkeys or helped in the cooking, preparation, and serving of this delicious meal. This ministry presents the Gospel to those with special needs who are undoubtedly the humblest in our society, and once each year provides a traditional, home-cooked turkey dinner, which many might not otherwise receive. We appreciate everyone that has contributed to make this event a blessing for all.
Luke 14:12-14

ALERT: Offering envelopes for 2023 are available for pick-up in the main Church hallway. They are displayed in numerical order along with an alphabetical list to reference. If you have not already been assigned a number and would like to request envelopes, please call the Church Office at (410) 876-3838, ext. 303. If you have chosen to give your tithes and offerings online and no longer need the envelopes, please draw a line through your name on the list or notify the Church Office. Thanks!

LIVE NATIVITY: Volunteers are needed to help with our Live Nativity, which will be for one night only, on Friday, December 23, from 5pm-8pm. Please sign up at the Welcome Desk or see Pastor Shutt for more information.

From My Heart

There are times when we all scratch our heads and wonder how our world became so hostile to the Gospel and the Lord Jesus. Back in World War II, a truce was called on Christmas Eve, and all hostilities came to a halt as even hardened soldiers stopped to celebrate the birth of the Savior!  During the Civil War men from both sides laid down their arms and in some cases walked across battle lines and sang Christmas Carols and celebrated our Lord’s birthday.

In our world today, it is now considered offensive to say, “Merry Christmas!”  We now have Merry Christmas replaced with “Happy Holidays.”  The term “Christmas break” in public schools has now changed to “winter break!”  Truth is, there has been a concerted effort for many years now to get the Lord Jesus out of Christmas! Let’s make sure we keep Christ in Christmas! Our children and grandchildren need to know what Christmas is and why we celebrate and honor the day!

Next Sunday evening at 6:00pm, we will have our Christmas Cantata.  We have been hearing some of the music over the last couple of weeks, and all of it has been wonderful!  I am looking forward to hearing it as it all comes together!  At the end, I will give a short Gospel message and give folks the opportunity to trust the Lord Jesus as their Savior!   This will be a great opportunity for you to invite friends and family to come with you to hear the Christmas music.

I read an article the other day and the author was discussing what the world has been doing to Christmas, and he said, “Christmas is what you make it!” I do not want Christmas to be just another extension of all this “woke” foolishness that has enveloped our world!   Let’s keep Jesus as the central figure in Christmas!  I am going to do my best to make much of the Lord Jesus during the services!

We are having a live nativity on Dec. 23rd, and then we will have the Christmas Eve candlelight service (of course) on the 24th.  Many things are coming up in the month of December, so keep an eye out for the events and the times which are listed in the bulletin!

     Have a wonderful day!

Pastor Norris
