WE LOVE OUR SUPER SIXTIES!
Through our Senior Adult Ministry, we provide an active ministry and fellowship for senior adults, one of the fastest growing groups in the Carroll County area.
Who is a senior adult? Anyone 55 and over! Open Door provides many weekly programs for senior involvement. We do not let the term “senior adult” mean rocking chairs. The senior adult ministry is one of the most active and enthusiastic departments at Open Door. Our seniors shine as examples to our younger generations by their spiritual maturity.
The Royal Blue Bible Study meets each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in Room 418 in the main church building. We enjoy singing, fellowship and a lesson from God’s Word. Our Home Touch ministry to the homebound folks is generated from the class. Each Monday at 10:00 a.m., the class members visit with new members, the sick and those in nursing homes.
Our Super 60’s Ministry sponsors various trips throughout the year. We plan a day trip each month. The trips are geared especially to the interests of the Supers and their mobility. We also include yearly-extended trips by charter bus or air for the group. Past trips have taken us to the Smoky Mountains, California Coast, the National Parks, Wisconsin Dells, New England, Canada, Texas and other points of interest.
A monthly newsletter is printed to help our Supers keep up with the various ministries and upcoming events at Church of the Open Door and the Super Sixties. If you would like to be added to our mailing list, simply call or write us. We will be happy to send this publication to you.
Through trips, projects, special events, and the Super Sixties choir, senior adults not only gain fellowship with others but also the ministries of our church and the local community.
Coming Later This Year
On the first Thursday of each month, our Super 60’s group meets. This program meets in our Great Room in the gymnasium building at 10:00 a.m. and concludes with a lunch. We provide a variety of entertaining programs during this special time together. We have had birthday celebrations, patriotic programs, What’s Its Day, seasonal programs and always a Bible message from one of our pastors. In addition to the program, we recognize birthdays and anniversaries. Our 60’s club time is always a blessing.
