At Carroll Christian, teachers, parents, and staff strive to provide our students with academic and spiritual excellence through a family environment.
It is our desire to help our students to growand mature spiritually through God’s Word socially, acedemically, and in the areas of fine arts and athletics. Our students are offered a variety of of course offerings using various curriculumand material that are held to high standards and in correclation with the latest technology available to our staff and students, including the Pad program that has already been introduced to our high schol students!
All of our teachers have been trained and certified in his or her area of expertise with a total combined average of 19 years in education. The faculty and staff at CCS comprises staff members who have the desire to see each child develop into independent, respectful and academically successful young adults. Most importantly, it is the desire of each staff member to be used of The Lord to support, love, pray for and guide each student in the direction The Lord has called them. Our faculty and administration hold and maintain certifications and qualifications necessary to make our school successful in its objectives and goals. Our average teaching tenure is 19 years with an average class ratio of 14:1. Administration, faculty, and support staff work together to serve parents and students to maintain a Carroll Christian family environment that will always have an open door.
Our high school students are involved in a week long internship program that teaches and prepares them for choosing a career path that fits their interests, strengths, and where the Lord is calling them to be. We strive to make Christ the center of all we do at Carroll Christian through weekly elementary and secondary chapels, incorporating prayer into our daily lives and activities, Bible classes, and various ministry opportunities.

Carroll Christian Schools began in 1973 as Carroll Christian Academy. The new school was started as a ministry of the Church of the Open Door for the purpose of providing a Christian alternative to the community’s educational options. The Academy opened its doors with thirty-four students in grades kindergarten through four.
The school grew steadily, adding one grade per year until it graduated its first senior class in 1982. Shortly thereafter, a preschool program was started and the school officially became known as Carroll Christian Schools.
Through the years the school has added not only grades to its program, but also curricular and extra-curricluar enhancements. These include a fully developed fine arts program as well as mulitple opportunities in athletics and a strong academic track for high school students.
As the church and school ministries grew, so grew the need for additional facilities. The school began in the church’s original 70′ x 100′ building now known as the Baker Building. The ministries grew rapidly, so the Boese Wing was added in two phases, in 1974 and in 1976. In 1980 the two small buildings sometimes referred to as the “temporaries” or “portables” were constructed. The 1980’s saw explosive growth in the church, which led to the construction of the 1500 seat auditorium in 1985. A long-time dream for the school was fulfilled in 1994 when the gymnasium/high school building was finished. This building contains a full-size high school gym, locker rooms, a fully equipped commercial kitchen, modern science lab, and a state-of-the-art computer lab. A two classroom modular building was installed next to the gymnasium in the summer of 1998. The completion of an addition to the high school building in the 2001-2002 school term has provided a cafeteria/multi-purpose room, a large library, a computer lab, and five additional classrooms.
With enrollment of nearly 250 students, Carroll Christian Schools has expanded to the point where it uses nearly every square foot of available space that the Lord has so generously provided. Plans for future growth include the continued development of athletic fields, a small park, and additional buildings on the 70-acre parcel of ground adjacent to the ministry’s already developed 5-acre tract.

HOPE Homeschool Oversight
HOPE, a ministry of the Church of the Open Door, has been designed to support and provide oversight, encouragement, advice, and record keeping for families who choose to “train up” their children at home (Deut. 6:4-6) in faith, virtue, and knowledge (II Peter 1:5) and to assist families in complying with Maryland law as described in COMAR 13A.10.01.05, which can be found on the internet at http://archives.marylandpublicschools.org/

HOPE will keep copies of report cards, oversight evaluations, and copies of standardized tests as submitted by families and create transcripts for diploma-program students. Families are responsible to keep additional records that become necessary for their admission to any other school system.
