From My Heart

Thank you for your prayers last Sunday and Monday as I traveled to Robbins, North Carolina to conduct my dear friend, Dr. Glenn Mathew’s funeral service. It took four and half hours to get from my house to Quantico, and on top of the traffic - there were pounding thunderstorms everywhere. I arrived in Robbins at 11:15 on Sunday evening. So, thank you for your prayers!

The funeral service went extremely well, and there were dozens and dozens of pastors, missionaries, and evangelists who were in attendance. I was asked to preach the main message and when I got to the end, I gave an invitation, and 3 folks prayed to accept the Lord Jesus as Savior. I know my dear friend was rejoicing in Heaven.  Dr. Glenn Mathews has always been my “go-to” friend in the ministry. Whenever I simply needed an ear to bend, it was his ear I chose to call, and he would always pick up the phone! I am certainly going to miss him!

But life goes on, doesn’t it? Ever since Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden, the same procedure has been in effect: “He was born, he lived, and he died.” One of the uncertainties of life is the certainty of death. But as long as we have breath, the Scriptures admonish us to stay faithful in our walk with the Lord. The Holy Spirit in the Book of Hebrews informs us that we are “compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses.” (Hebrews 12:1). Just think of the hundreds and hundreds of folks in our church who have passed away in just the last 20 years! We have so many of our friends and loved ones up in Glory who are cheering us on as we labor for the Lord.

As we have been bombarded by the media of an attempted assassination, political chaos, a “woke” Olympics which has turned off millions of viewers, and a host of other sideshows the media would have us see - Israel is surrounded by 3.6 billion Muslims who want the entire Jewish nation eradicated and pushed into the Sea to rid them of the land God promised to Abraham. Iran has gotten emboldened by a lack of resolve in America and is threatening to attack Israel. That decision has been met with a very powerful response from Israel. Israel has shown Iran they can hit them hard, with lightning precision, and can target their leadership, bomb their communications, bomb their Navies, their Air Forces, and even their nuclear sites - and there is not a thing Iran can do to stop them!

These are certainly some interesting days! Could the “Day of the Lord” be upon us? Oh, I think if we knew how soon the Lord Jesus would return in the clouds to call His Church up to Heaven - we would all be running to the altar this morning to pray for His soon return! Are you ready for the sound of the trumpet? I simply cannot see that we could have much longer in this messed-up world! Keep looking up, Jesus is coming again!
