From My Heart
It is so good to be back home! I sure want to thank all of you for your prayers while I was in New Zealand and Australia. It was a fruitful trip, and I am hearing reports from pastors telling of a renewed excitement for soul-winning and of folks getting saved! We saw several “Divine Appointments” on the trip, which always makes things exciting! This is probably the biggest one I experienced! The missionary pastor I was with, who put the trip together and put the conferences together, is originally from Essex, Md. He and his family have been in New Zealand for 13 years. Before he was saved, he drove from Essex to Westminster each day to work! But, there is more to the story!
Before he was saved, he worked in the building next door, for a company that had offices on the top floor (the building going down the hill towards McDonald's). When he looked out the window of his office he saw the church, the parking lot, and the kids going back and forth to the playground. He said he would look out his office window, see all the activity, and would be convicted by the Holy Spirit. He said he would never walk across our parking lot because he was afraid one of our soulwinners would come out and confront him! He said there were times when he wanted to go to Target but he would drive out the back way, so he did not have to set foot on Church property!
I arrived in Auckland at about 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday and at 7:00 p.m. I preached the first message at a church in one of Aukland’s suburbs. I was there to preach on soul-winning and motivating the churches to win souls! When Pastor Howell introduced me that evening, he told that story! The folks in the church were so impressed that our church building, the parking lot, and even the kids playing on the playground were used of the Lord to bring conviction! Pastor Howell told that introduction every time I preached in a new church! And it made a huge impression on each congregation he told the story to!
I certainly had no idea that any of that had happened! Pastor Howell got saved several months later in Essex, was called into the ministry, spent some years at Ambassador Bible College, and then quickly raised his support and took off to the field! That reminds me of the Philippian jailer in Acts 16, who heard Paul and his companions singing at midnight. When the earthquake flattened the jail, he was ready to give his heart to the Lord, simply because of the testimony of those who had been singing songs of praise while they were beaten, bleeding, and bound in stocks with chains! We simply never know what the Holy Spirit will use to speak to someone’s heart!
Have a great day, and please pray for the Lord to bless our services today!
Pastor Norris
