From My Heart

Earlier in the week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu went before the cameras to update how the war was progressing. He began his remarks by asking this question, “Did you hear what God did over the weekend?” He then told the people of Israel something he gave the Lord God of Heaven credit for doing. For the last several days and nights, Israel has had a tremendous amount of rain and thunderstorms. God used the rain to accomplish an amazing thing for His people.

As has been widely reported, Hamas has a maze of tunnels under Gaza City. These tunnels are used to smuggle weapons, ammunition, the rockets they fire at Israeli towns and cities, and many other illegal items they are not allowed to possess. They have stockpiled much of this contraband in one of the larger tunnels, which is how they seem to have a constant unlimited supply of weaponry.

Prime Minister Netanyahu told how God used the massive amount of rainfall to flood the tunnel where all this ammunition was hidden! All of it is now useless, ruined by the water that soaked and saturated the tunnel. Netanyahu told his people, “I guess we know which side God has taken in the war!” I feel sure there will be more stories like this which will be made public in the coming days!

Last Monday, I spoke with my dear friend in Beirut, Lebanon. He said the war is about to cause the Middle East to explode (no pun intended). Hamas in Gaza (south), Hezbollah in Lebanon (north), Syria to the east, Jordan to the east, Egypt to the southwest, and funding, training, and supplying each of these nations is Iran. The Iranian regime has its bloody hands all over the Hamas attack three weeks ago. My friend in Beirut asked if our church would hold him and his family, as well as his church family, in prayer. If Hezbollah gets involved in the war, he fears for his family’s safety because the Hezbollah Headquarters is just across the street from his church and house. It is about the distance between our church and the Dunkin Donuts across 140! I assured him of our prayers!

These resistance groups in the Middle East get elected by rigged elections and literally terrorize and bind the people over whom they rule with strict Islamic policies and laws. Hezbollah means, “the party of Allah.” Hamas is an acronym for “Islamic Resistance Movement.” The word “Hamas” in Hebrew means, “violence.” The meaning of the word, “Hamas” in Arabic is, “zeal” or “zealot.” A couple of synonyms for the word are “strength” or “bravery.” The members of Hamas are certainly “zealots” for their cause. In their charter, one of their stated purposes is the annihilation of the Jews. They exist to kill Jews and want to drive the Jews into the Mediterranean Sea!

Let’s continue to pray for the “peace of Jerusalem.”
