Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:”

I John 4:2

Today’s Lesson thought can be summed up by asking this simple question…

Are You Blinded??”

Lesson: “Discerning Truth From Error”

I           : The Test of Affirmation

A: The Need For The Test

  • I John 4:1, Deuteronomy 13:1-11, I Kings 18:1-46
    • Illustration: Why does the Catholic doctrine call Mary a Co-Redeemer or Co-Saviour, especially when God’s Word says in Acts 4:10-12, Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”?

      • Folks, this is ‘false teaching’ and there needs to be a test so as to prove that this is false teaching and we see that test found in God’s Word, specifically in Acts 17:1-12!

B: The Nature of the Test

  • I John 4:2, I Timothy 2:5-6
  • Read this week…
    • Hebrews chapters 7 through 10, John 1:1-4, Galatians 4:4-5, Hebrews 10:1-18, John 1:14, Matthew 1:18-23, Mark 1:18-25, Luke 2:6-20, John 3:16-19

C: News of the Test

  • I John 4:3, I Peter 5:8-10

II         : The Test of Acceptance

A: Acceptance by God

  • I John 4:4

B: Acceptance by the World

  • I John 4:5, I John 2:15-17, John 15:18-23, John 17:14-17

C: Acceptance as a Test

  • I John 4:6, I Corinthians 2:14

Conclusion:

With all the religious talk that is going on in our world today, you and I, as truly born again ‘Christians’, must not accept everything we hear about the Lord Jesus as equally valid.

And while we must not have a harsh or critical spirit, we do need to develop a clear and sound heart and mind so as to be able to recognize the difference between truth and error!

Invitation:

Dear child of God, don’t be ashamed that you belong to Jesus!

The Bible reminds us in Romans 10:11 that, “…the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.”!

If you have truly been born again, then you need to stay in the Word of God so that with the help and guidance of the indwelling Holy Spirit of God, you will always be able to distinguish truth from error!

If you are not in the Word of God regularly, child of God, then you need to get in the Word of God, starting today!

And then perhaps you are listening to me today and you do not yet know the Lord Jesus Christ as your own personal Saviour, and you know that if you were to die, Heaven would not be your eternal Him…we want you to know that we love you today, and we want you to know that God loves you and has made the way possible for you to know that Heaven van be your eternal Home if only you will place your faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ!

Why not repent of your sin and be saved today??
