Our Lesson’s Theme Verse is found in these passages of Scripture…
“Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.
This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.”

Today’s Lesson Thought can be summed up in this one Question…

Lesson: “The Giver of Hope”
Here in the last part of the book of Esther chapter 2, we find these three little verses that set the story plot for us in this continuing story of God’s divine providence in motion for the children of Israel!
- In these verses, we will see the inner desires of the hearts of wicked men revealed, rebuked, and refuted as the man of God is not afraid to stand up for that which is right in the eyes of God, even though he is then seemingly forgotten by the one he helped with no recognition for ‘faithful services rendered’
- But we will see too, though trying as these things were in the lives of God’s people, how that all these things were in God’s great plan for His chosen people, so that at the right time, and at the right place, God might once again be seen and known to be that Great God of all hope and peace that truly passes all understanding!
- Folks, Satan’s plan for mankind has never changed since the Garden of Eden where he first tempted Eve and caused Adam to choose to disobey God. You see, Satan’s plan is always is to rob, and to steal, and to kill, and to destroy—but folks, our God is the great God of all hope and peace, even in the midst of the greatest storms in our lives when it seems that we are going down for the last time and while the very best we can do seems only to be seen as our treading water in the stormy seas of life!
- But never forget, dear child of God, as the old song says, “We have an anchor that keeps the soul! Steadfast and sure while the billows roll! Fastened to the Rock which cannot move, Grounded firm and deep in the Saviour’s love!”
- And if God’s children are indeed anchored in that Rock, the Lord Jesus Christ, there is nothing God’s children cannot do or endure even as the storms of this life continue to billow against us each and every day!
- There is yet another song that comes to my heart and mind as I try to encourage you this morning to keep your eyes upon Jesus as our great Giver of all hope, and that song is entitled, “Till The Storm Passes By”.
- The words of that song say…
In the dark of the midnight have I oft hid my face
While the storm howls above me, and there's no hiding place.
'Mid the crash of the thunder, Precious Lord, hear my cry
Keep me safe till the storm passes by!
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky—
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand!
Keep me safe till the storm passes by!
Many times Satan whispered, ‘There is no use to try,
For there's no end of sorrow, there's no hope by and by!’
But I know Thou art with me, and tomorrow I'll rise
Where the storms never darken the skies!
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky—
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand
Keep me safe till the storm passes by!
Oh, how you and I need to remember that the Master of the storm is indeed there with us, even in the midst of the storm!
- He has promised that He will never leave us, nor forsake us, and folks, I choose to trust Him to not only give me this great promise of Hope and Peace, but I am trusting Him to fulfill it, even as He has said that He would!
- So now, with all that said as an ‘introduction’ to this lesson, let’s consider this story of Queen Esther and how it continues to be such a blessing to so many who have found themselves in the midst of a storm that they have no power within themselves to control. And let’s take note in our lesson today as we find that…
